The Power of Makeup

Hey, welcome back to Bethany Bea! I am sure you are aware of the current global sensation which I believe was begun by Nikkie Tutorials: The Power of Makeup. I decided to join in with the craze and have a go at this tutorial/challenge so here is my take on it:

Ok, so writing this is a bit more daunting than I thought it was going to be. Here is half of my face, completely bare, for the internet to see. I will leave links to the products used on the right side of my face at the bottom of the post,  and on the left side is just a Clean and Clear moisturiser. Unlike all the other photos you might have seen, I drew a line to separate my face down the middle as I just think it helps show the quite big difference.

As you can see, I am one of those lucky people that doesn't have to do much to their eyebrows but as you can see the rest of my face looks quite different. Yes as you can see, I did the cliché thing where everybody puts their hair back on the side with no makeup to maximise the difference and personally I don't think my skin looks that much different. Obviously my lips and eyes have quite a big change on them but I want to focus on the real reason I did this challenge.

Okay, now we are going to delve straight into the nitty gritty of this post... grab your snorkels! I wanted to take this photo so I could show you that makeup is NOT something that you need to wear! Over the last few months, weeks even, I have become a lot more confident with my 'naked face' and no longer feel the desperate need (that I am sure so many of you feel) to cover my face in makeup the moment I wake up every morning. To all those makeup wearers out there, let me tell you, it feels good! You will never understand the complete joy of being able to freely rub your eyes without cracking out a mirror to examine your mascara and eyeliner!

Don't get me wrong, I still wear makeup most days but no where near as much. Yet I no longer feel like I have to. So ladies, I am here to tell you, stop feeling like you have to live by social conformity and join in with what everybody else is doing. If you are unconfident, maybe you are spotty or have under eye circles, use concealer. I'm not saying to feel constantly embarrassed or self conscious because you have been deprived of makeup, use what you need to use. But if you have good skin or having a good day, don't feel like you have to wear a load of pointless makeup because you feel you have to. Sorry for my little rant but this is something I wanted to share with you all- to finish the post, here is another half and half picture without the line and a list of the products that you may want to buy (but you do not need/have to!).

Summer & Revision

Can we have a drumroll please?! I mean seriously, start drumming your knees...
It is officially summer! Its the moment we have all been waiting for, we can all finally venture into the wild outdoors and not feel it is necessary to spend every living moment wrapped in three gazillion blankets and four pairs of socks. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to go on romantic walks in the park (or just walks...), sit in the garden and best of all... eat ice cream!

Although, as I am sat here writing this post, I have just looked out my window. Everybody sigh - It is absolutely chucking it down! Just to add to the utter torture, I am now thinking about how I can't actually enjoy the few rare moments of sun us Brits get blessed with because I trapped inside revising.  So I guess a lot of my readers are in the same situation as me, so I thought I would give you my 3 top tips for how to revise and make the most of the sun at the same time, enjoy:

1. REVISE OUTSIDE

This may seem pretty self explanatory, but one of then best things you can do is pick up all your revision books etc. and vacate your bedroom (that is currently like a prison cell) and go set up outside on a picnic blanket or even better if you have some decking and chairs. This way, your brain is focused as you are outside specifically to revise and it also doesn't feel as torturous as you can soak up the sun!  Also, if you want me to go all scientific on you (I apologise, I am only trying to prove a point),  vitamin D is proven to help your general mental health which makes you learn more in less time... BONUS!!

2. REWARD YOURSELF

If you are anything like me, you may have a younger brother or sister that is lucky enough to not be in a school year where they have exams to revise for. I find listening to your sibling have fun and arranging to meet their mates really demotivating and makes me not want to revise. So, instead of getting annoyed at their exciting days, treat yourself! Even if it's just for a quick break to eat an ice cream, it will make you feel like you aren't missing out as much. (Even though we all know meeting our mates would be a lot more enjoyable)

3.  SORT OUT YOUR TIME

Okay, so arguably the worst thing about revising is looking out the window and seeing the sun (providing it is actually sunny) and knowing that you can't go out in it. Firstly, when you are revising I would advise you shut your curtains! If you can't see the weather, you don't know what you're missing. Then, organise your day into chunks. Have a look at the weather and work out when the nicest time is, then fit your revision around this. Say you know it's going to be really sunny between 12 noon  and 2pm, don't revise then! Do it between 3pm and 5pm and then you haven't missed out the joys of British summer time. Simple!

Those are my top tips for how to make the most out of the sun yet still smash your exams! If you hadn't already noticed, I have changed my style of post and completely redesigned my blog and prefer it a lot more! Obviously, I haven't been active very much (as you would know if you follow my twitter!) as I have been revising but I am trying and will be back properly as soon as my exams are done! (which is very soon!)

Much love,

miss sporty nail varnish review

Hey!! I have never done a review today so I thought I better do one! This is a review of the Miss Sporty nail varnishes which are so affordable but amazing quality!

Left to right: Metal Flip 030 - Quick Dry 344 - Quick Dry 025 - Quick Dry 302

It only takes 1 or 2 coats (MAX) to make the colour like this! It is brilliant pigmentation, especially from a price between £1.99 and £2.99!!

The only thing I would say, the metal flip one is holographic and does take a few coats and it doesn't really show up like the bottle; its a lot more transparent than that!

All in all, I LOVE THESE NAIL VARNISHES!!! They are such good quality and they are soooo affordable! You can pick these up in places like boots and super drug (will link below) and do have quite a long lasting time, especially if you have a top coat! They also have a big range of styles of nail varnish such as gel colour,  pastels, fluocents, quick drys etc, I personally think they are just as good as Essie or Barry M nail paints.
