Selena Gomez

Wasn't too sure on what to write about today. But then I decided I would join the crowd and do a celebrity inspired make up tutorial! I think Selena Gomez always has really nice makeup so I chose her. I am doing one of her smokey eyed looks as it has inspired my own makeup styles!

This picture sort of shows how her main face looks. She is usually quite tanned and highlighted. So. Firstly I would cover your main face with a tan / beige coloured foundation and around the neck. Next you need a REALLY good highlighter! Put a lot under your eyes and your cheeks up to your cheek bone. Do a line down the nose and then the middle of your forehead. Next, take a very dark powder, foundation of contour kit and outline your jawline and your cheekbone. You now need to take a contouring brush and blend it all in. Start at the highlighted section (under your eyes) and work outwards to the dark jaw line. After it is all blended, make sure that if you have spots you do your best to cover them as Selena always has flawless skin. Finally apply pinkish blusher to the apples of your cheeks
and you could even add some very fine glitter!

Selena's eyebrows are always really neat. They don't have a massive arc like some celebrities but they do curve slightly at the end. If you have light eyebrows, make sure you fill them in to quite a dark brown. Make them fairly straight and curve at the very end. Her lips are either a really light pink or they are a really dark red! There is no in between! I would say she wears a light colour more often so I would wear that for this look She also always has a glossy finish so make sure you wear lipgloss.

Start off with colouring your bottom waterline in a black kohl pencil to make them stand out. Then apply a light eyeshadow as a base and also where your eyebrow starts (a primer first). Use a light brown eyeshadow and cover that over your whole eye. Then blend much darker tone into the crease and up in a straight line from the corner of the eye. Apply a glittery gold over the majority of the eyelid until it reaches the light cream you used on your brow bone earlier. Take an eyeliner and at the end of your eye, draw a long flick until it nearly reaches your eyebrow. Bring it down towards your eye quite thickly, thinning towards the inner corner of your eye. Then smudge this out and perhapsuse some black eyeshadow slightly above it to finish it off!
Finally, either curl your eyelashes and wear clumpy mascara or wear fake ones.

Thats how I would do a Selena Gomez tutorial! I would either wave my hair or scrape it back into a very tight pony! These are the products I would use:

o NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Stromboli - £31
o Benefit Hight Beam Concealer - £19.50
o Sleek contour kit - Dark - £8
o No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder- £11.50
o Soap and Glory Brow Archery - £10
o MAC lipstick - Sunny Seoul or Shy Girl - £15.50
o MAC Clear Lipglass - £14.50
o Soap and Glory Lid Stuff - Nudes - £10
o Maybelline Gel Eyeliner pen - Black- £8.99
o Urban Decay Naked - 3 - £36
o Benefit Better Than Sex mascara - Black - £18
(eyelash curlers - Sally Hansen - £3)

DIY beauty gifts

Slightly random, but I thought I would share with you some really easy DIY beauty gifts. Say you have your best mates birthday coming up and your a bit short of cash, these are the perfect gifts which you can easily make yourself and look really good! So here are 5 simple and cheap gift ideas for you to do...

First is a Body butter. This is a Whipped Coconut Body Butter which only really uses 1 ingredient and takes about 10 minutes to do! You need to get a cup of coconut oil and pour into a mixer (or you can whip by hand). Then leave it to mix on the highest setting for 6-8 minutes (or use a whisk for around 10 minutes) until it is light and fluffy. Put it in a bowl and cover tightly in the fridge for 1 hour. To make it look nice put it in a pretty container or pretty jar and label it. Done!

Another easy gift to make is a body or foot scrub. I am making a Peppermint foot scrub (also could be used as a great Christmas gift!). Take about 2 cups of white sugar and mix with half a cup of vegetable oil. Add a few drops of peppermint oil (usually in baking sections of supermarkets) and some food colouring (if you want to). Mix it all together till it looks like the picture. Again, put it in a nice jar and label it. These look really cute. You could do stripes colours too!

Another really easy gift are hair bows. You will need to purchase some fabric (or use old t-shirts etc that you don't need) and some grips/ barrettes. You could also use ribbon instead of fabric. Cut the fabric into a long strip and simply tie a bow of any shape or size. If you have a hot glue gun, glue the grip to the bottom of the bow and leave it upside down to set (leave until you can't move it). If not you will have to use normal liquid glue and leave it for a while (overnight) until it sets. A glue gun is your best chance of it staying still.

Another really easy one that takes about 5 minutes are Braided bracelets (or friendship bracelets). Find 3 different coloured pieces of wool or ribbon and make equal length strips. Knot them together at the end and sellotape to the end of a table. Plait these together and then make a loopy knot at the end (you could do a fishtail plait if you find it easier). That could be it. Or if you wanted to, make another 2 of these and then plait all of them together to make a thicker bracelet which I found looked nicer. Pick colours that go together and look nice. Make as many as you want!

Finally, a DIY bubble bath.  I made a Vanilla and honey bubble bath. Mix together a cup of vegetable or sunflower oil, half a cup of honey, a tablespoon of vanilla extract, and a cup of liquid soap (just a cheap brand from Tesco's or whatever). Mix these until they form a nice runny liquid and you could add a food colouring if you wanted. Pour the mixture into a jar, bottle or container which you can decorate or label. Any liquid leftover... use it yourself! It is lovely.

Those are all my easy and cheap gift ideas which I hope you have a go at making! They are fun to make and also look really nice and pretty. Perfect for a friend or family member when you need a present. 10th post today wooo!

spoil me sunday

In my opinion, Sundays are a perfect opportunity to have a pamper sesh! They are the best excuse to have a relaxing evening before you go back to work or school. So I decided I would tell you what I do for my pamper time, or as I call it...
 SPOIL ME SUNDAY!!

Ok so first I would run a really nice hot bath. I would either put in Sanctuary Foaming Creamy Bath Soak if I want a nice bubble bath as this creates really nice bubbles; or I would use Next Just Pink bath caviar (salts) which smell absolutely gorgeous. Or I could use either a Lush bath bomb or 1-2 chunks of a Zoella Fizz Bar which are actually some on the nicest bath bombs I have ever tried as they fizzle really nice haha. I wouldn't use them all together though because sometimes salts can destroy any bubbles!

I would then obviously wash my hair. I have been loving TRESemmè Deep Cleasing shampoo as it smells really nice and also makes your hair bouncy. If you used the Sanctuary bubble bath, I would now use Sanctuary Cleansing Burst Body Wash. This smells the same as the other one and has little bits of glitter in! But if you used the bath crystals, I would now use Next Just Pink shower gel. However, use whatever you like and whatever you like the smell of.

I think it is really important to take care of your skin so it is easier to apply natural makeup etc. If you have been out on Saturday night or you have worn makeup throughout the week this is the perfect time to make your face clean and fresh again. I love Simple products so I would use these. If I have been out during the day then I will remove my makeup with simple makeup wipes which are about £3 and really nice quality. Then I will apply Simple Purifying Skin Lotion which is again about £3 which is really good for dry skin.

Once you are out the bath and snuggly in your jammies or onezee go and make yourself a hot chocolate (or a latte / cappuccino.. whatever you fancy). I always use Cadburys drinking chocolate with whipped cream on top and marshmallows (but we have ran out). Tip- Warm up a cup of hot milk in the microwave and then put the chocolate powder in that.. it tastes so much nicer than water! By the way.. how cute is this mug!

Next is a bit of a pamper session! Put on a face mask, either from a tube or a packet- whatever is your favourite, and then sit and let that warm up or whatever it does. If you want to you could now paint your nails. I usually go for either browns purples or pinks but do what takes your fancy. Take your time, enjoy it. Don't forget to take your mask off though!

To finish off your evening and to relax before you go to bed, turn off your lights, find a lamp or some fairy lights and get in bed. You could light some candles to make the room smell nice and then choose a film- I prefer rom-coms or easy-watch films but choose films you enjoy! Cuddle up with your hot chocolate and stick the DVD in your laptop. Also, a bit of chocolate or popcorn doesn't hurt! Enjoy..

Have a nice Sunday and make sure you all relax!

five pound makeup

Many of you may be new to makeup and wanting to try things out. You might be in need of a new item and a little sparing of cash. In this blog I have made a list of basic makeup and a products which you can get for under £5.

First is concealer. I chose the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer for £4.19. I had to pick this one as it is my 2nd favourite concealer anyway! It is a 16 hour stay and has really good coverage. It gets rid of dark under eyes and is a good hider of blemishes or spots. It won a beauty award in 2014 which is pretty impressive! It comes with a wand applicator and is an easy storage bottle. I love it!

Next is foundation. This one is actually just over the the £5 limit (sorryyyy) but is definitely worth it. This is the Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Oil Foundation for £5.99. This has an amazing matte finish and the bottle looks really good. It also contains a moisturising formula which is good for dry skin. It blends really well and also mixes with other foundation or blends into your concealer.

For a powder, I chose the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder for £3.99. It contains natural shine and natural minerals and it gets rid of any shine from the skin. It has a transparent one and colour tones so can be worn on its own or just to complete your face. I would recommend applying with a brush and not a sponge as it stays on better then. It is very similar to the Maybelline Matte Maker so I would recommend either of these.

For mascara,  I picked the Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara Black Curve, which is £4.99. I have previously had this mascara and really liked it. You can also get this mascara without a curve but I prefer it with because the applicator is curved which makes your lashes bend easier. It makes your eyelashes pop (especially if you use an eyelash curler first) and has a nice consistency. This used to be my favourite mascara (before I found MAC!) so I would highly recommend.

If you are just starting to use makeup you may not need an eyeliner but if you do, then I would definitely use the Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner which is £4.99. It comes in a little pot and a brush which I suppose could be hard to apply but probably takes about a week to master. If this is too tricky then I would say to use the Collection Extreme Felt Tip liner which I think is about £3.99. Both are amazing and I have used both so try either.

I have two lipsticks for my lipstick section. Either Sleek Lipstick in either Plush (a brighter and darker shade) or in Barely There (neutral and basic) for £4.99. Both are really nice colours but their other shades are just as nice, I just prefer these two. Sleek lipsticks are really matte and have a nice finish and also apply smoothly. I also really like its oval packaging because I think its really neat and posh!

My other choice for lipstick is again a little bit over the limit but
they are my 2nd favourite lipsticks (after MAC!) ever! They are the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks for £5.49. I ADORE the consistency of these and they have such a range of colours. There is red and black packaging but they are basically the same. There is a huge range of these and many other people love them too. I would seriously get your hands on one of these, I absolutely love them!

For a lipgloss, I had no doubts but to choose the Collection Cream Puff Lip Creams, in my favourite shade - Cotton Candy 1! These are soooo nice! It is one of the only lip glosses I have come across with a matte finish! It is really unique and has a moisturising  formula. It is really creamy and applies really nicely. It applies best if you put nothing on underneath it and then it has a really nice finish. I think this is one of the best lip products around at the moment!

Finally, if you wanted to fill in or draw on your eyebrows (which you may not need or want to do if you are a beginner or have your eyebrows done) I would recommend the Maybelline Master Brow pencil for £2.99. It comes with a brush one end and the pencil the other. It is a really good pencil and dosent wear off during the day. I use this on a daily basis so wouldn't  question it at all. It is almost like a kohl eyeliner and is really soft.

So those are my basic or cheap makeup items. You may not want to or need to wear them all but this might give you a few suggestions if you are short of cash or new to makeup. Hope you enjoyed it, a bit different!
Also, last week I posted a makeup wishlist which you can see HERE and said that I wanted the Sleek contouring kit! They finally had my shade yesterday so I will let you know how I get on and if I like it in another post!

spring outfits

Bit of a different post today. I originally said this was going to be beauty & fashion & hair but so far I have focused on beauty. So, today I am going to do my first fashion post and do 3 of my favourite style outfits to wear in spring. I will tell you shops and prices so you can also purchase these clothes but this is my fashion style and the clothes I like to wear so they may not be your choice at all! Oh and you might notice I'm a bit obsessed with heels..

My first outfit is quite a classy outfit for if you were going out for a meal or out for the day. It includes quite dark colours but the light flowers in the skirt make it seem more of a spring outfit. The top is from TopShop and is their Long Sleeve Skinny Rib Crop top for £10. The skirt is from Newlook and is a White Woven Floral Skater Skirt for £14.99. The shoes are Black Chunky Ankle Strap Block Heels for £27.99 in Newlook. I completely LOVE this outfit. It is probably my favourite out the lot! I think its best if you tuck the crop top in the skirts and so it makes the skirt appear high waisted. The outfit looks really cute and also looks amazing with big chunky shoes. If you were to wear the skirt you definitely need the black top as its quite loud and you don't need to look overdressed and clashed.

This outfit is more of a spring-style outfit and is a lot more casual. Again, it is quite floral as I think Spring is the best time to wear flower patterns. First is the Newlook Orange Blurred Floral Print Long Line Kimono for £22.99. I paired this with boohoo Lara Superskinny Highlife Ultimate Tube Jeans in Blue for £25 and obviously needed a top for underneath the kimono- Newlook White Longline Vest £6.99. Finally for my shoes I chose Boohoo Frankie Block Heel Jelly Sandals in Nude for £4 (BARGAIN!). I think this outfit is so cute and is perfect for just nipping to the shops or going out somewhere with your friends. Also, if the weather is rubbish, at least you have jeans on and your legs will be dry and warm! I think that Newlook and Topshop are the best places to buy a kimono really as they have a really varied range and they are always really nice patterns and a good quality.

This is quite a simple outfit but I couldn't resist putting it on here because its just so lovely!! It is a cute little playsuit from Topshop (Long sleeve playsuit by love for £38) and paired with some heels (Topshop Lily Platform Sandals for £46) which seem really similar to my first shoes. You could probably use both shoes for the same outfit but I thought I would give a range of black platform shoes you can get because I just love them. A lot. I think you could wear this outfit for quite a variety of occasions such as going out for a family meal as it is quite classy but also for a meet up with friends or a day out shopping because it is also really simple. I love how the playsuit has long sleeves even though its a short legged one (its either you show skin at top or bottom!) and how the pattern is really cute and flowery. I've realised all my outfits are floral (whoops) but I think thats what spring is all about!

I hope you enjoyed this different type of post and let me know if you want more fashion style posts on my twitter @bethanybeablog

makeup wishlist

I thought I would do a wish list of what makeup I want to try out. If you want to try some new make up or you have tried any of these products, then let me know!

My first product that I really want to try out is Nars Sheer Glow foundation, probably in the shade Punjab or Sante Fe. So many people have raved about this and I just haven't got round to trying it out. It cost £31 and is said to have amazing coverage and is good at hydrating your skin. I've also heard people say that is really good for normal to dry skin and at the moment my skin has been really dry from the cold weather. This sounds perfect for me and I really need to get round to buying it!

Next up, Soap and Glory Lid Stuff in Whats Nude. This is a eyeshadow quad with four different neutral shades, perfect for a smokey eye. It doesn't come with a brush which I think is ideal as it just takes up packaging and you can use different brushes anyway. It says it has 8 hour wear and has a matte finish. Lots of people have said it has a really creamy texture and leaves your eyelids feeling light. Usually I find that some eyeshadows can leave your eyes heavy so this should be perfect. It costs £10.

I have also heard that the Sleek Contour kit is amazing! I would probably buy it in medium and it costs £8. I don't actually have a contouring set at the moment as mine ran out so I need to buy this pronto! It is one of the cheapest contouring kits around but apparently, by far the best. People have said it is foolproof  and highly pigmented. What could go wrong?! There is a shimmery powder in a lighter tone and a matte mouse section in a very dark colour.

At the moment, I am really in to winged eyeliner to finish off my smokeys eyes. I really prefer felt tip liners as I find it easier to draw on. The L'orèal Super Liner Perfect Slim costs £5.99 and is meant to be really good for drawing a thin line as it is 0.4mm across! It also has a grip which I think is a AMAZING idea as I am always trying to do a line with shaky hands! I really look forward to trying out this eyeliner as I do it everyday. At the moment I am using Collection Extreme eyeliner and is very thick, even though cheap.

I have three MAC lipsticks and I love them all.. so, I really want to try out a new one! I want to try the MAC Heirloom Mix Lipstick in tribalist. Unfortunately, this lipstick isn't out in the UK!!!! It is only in America for $17.50 which makes me so annoyed! This lipstick is such a nice colour and is meant to be amazing quality and leaves me gutted that is only in the US. The packaging on this lipstick is so cool as it has loads of little sparkles all over it! If I ever go to America again, I will defiantly get this lipstick! I could order it...

I also really want to get the MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash mascara. It is £19 and is meant to be the best mascara. I have used MAC mascara before (in my January Favourites) and I have to say I absolutely love them. It is said to add volume, curl and is really pigmented. It is meant to create saturated lashes and also comes in a sweet bottle/tube ( what do you call that?! ). The applicator is meant to bend and I find that really helpful for making your lashes stand out. Apparently, it won't smudge, crumble or flake.. something I need to get! Sounds like a miracle worker!

The final thing on my makeup wish list is the Soap and Glory Archery eyebrow pencil in shade Brownie Points. It retails at £10 which I think is pretty good for a brow pencil and has 2 ends. One a felt tip point and the other is a crayon. One end is to stand and precisely draw your eyebrows and the other to fill any gaps in and also make it look a little more natural. I have to pencil in the end of my eyebrows as they are very sparse at the ends but as my eyebrows are NATURALLY black (!), it is quite hard to find a good match in colour!

I do have more items on my wish list but they are either body, hair or nail products and I wanted to keep this totally makeup so I might do another wish list at a different time.

See you soon Xx

everyday makeup

In this post I thought I would tell you all my everyday make up look - what I do on a daily basis and the products I use. I'm not going to talk do my morning or evening skincare as I will do that in another post.

1. I apply my concealer. I have been using the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in medium which I listed in my January Favourites. I use it to cover any spots or blemishes and sometimes use the powder (step 3 of the trio concealer) to go over my under eyes.

2. I apply my highlighter. At the moment I am using L'Orèal True Match crayon concealer in fair. This is a lifesaver! I use this for my under eye circles and to highlight the end of my nose. Anywhere that I want to lighten my face or make bits even. This is probably my favourite product for highlighting or covering as it stays on the whole day.

3. I then put on my foundation. As you know, I have been using the No7 Stay Perfect super light foundation in a blend of the shades; cool beige and warm beige. I usually apply this with a brush and make sure that I cover my whole face, especially my red cheeks.

4. Next I do my blusher. Usually it is the No7 natural blush tint powder in Honey. I use this on the apples of my cheeks and sometimes I use it for contouring. However, in the last few days I have used my natural collection blusher and its just as good.

5. I apply a loose powder at this point to make sure that my skin coverage doesn't wear off during the day. I have been using the MUA matte perfect loose powder in Translucent. I don't have any other MUA make up, only this, and I have to say it is a really good powder. However usually I spill it over my dressing table as it is a shake pot.

6. I then move on to my eyebrows. One thing you need to know, my eyebrows are naturally BLACK (not at all matching my natural hair!), so they do not need filling in or anything like that. Despite this, I usually neaten out the ends with my beautyUK simply define eyebrow pencil in dark brown. This is just to make them look more defined and neat.

7. On some days, I will apply eyeshadow (usually from my Naked 3 pallet) however most days I will just wear eyeliner. Personally, I think that Collection do the best eyeliners. So, I either wear Collection's lasting perfection gel eyeliner which is a pot and brush or their Extreme felt tip liner - both in black. I find that they stay on all day and are easy to use. TIP- always start from the end of you eye at the flick and go backwards, its easier.

8. I now do my mascara. Recently I have been wearing my MAC Opulash optimum mascara in black but I also really like Maybelline's Big Eyes double end mascara and Rimmel Scandal eyes. I don't think a make up look is really done till you have applied your mascara as it just really finishes off the look and makes your lashes stand out.

9. Finally, its lip time! First I always apply a Maybelline Baby Lips. I have a LOT of these but  I wear any, usually and uncoloured one or a very light one. I then move on to lipstick. Depending on my outfit, weather and mood(!) I wear either a pink or dark red and its very often my MAC Viva Glam V lipstick or Maybelline Pink Me Up 045. This really finishes it.

january favourites

hello february! I thought I would do my January favourites as we're starting off a new month. Also, make sure you follow me on twitter @blogmissbethx

First up is the Soap & Glory Kick Ass concealer in medium. I have used this every single day since I brought it just after Christmas. It is AMAZING. It covers every single blemish and is really good coverage for any dark under eyes! It is a three piece "camouflage kit". Step 1, a light concealer for brightening those under eyes. Step 2, a concealer for any spots or scars. Step 3, a sealing powder so it doesn't come off during the day. I love Soap and Glory because their products are always really good and their packaging is also really cute! I brought this for £10, I have been loving it.

Next, my only hair favourite, is the L'Orèal Elnett Satin hairspray. I am one of those girls that back-combs their hair (I know, so bad, never start doing it!) so it usually takes a lot of hairspray to keep it in place all day. However, whilst using this hairspray, my hair has kept in all day and I haven't use half as much! It does disappear at the brush stroke and it does give me a more back combed look. My hair no longer falls out and I don't have to keep scrunching it up throughout the day. It also smells really good! Cost £6.

I have also been really into Urban Decay's  NAKED 3 eyeshadow pallet. It comes with a gold brush with two ends. One for doing defiant detail and an other for blending or smudging. It has a range of shades from a near-white to a near-black. It also contains some nice neutral browns and also a few rosy pink colours. It has mainly matte colours but also a few sparkly. It is also perfect for creating  a smokey eye and is £36.

I also love the MAC Opulash Optimum Black mascara. It comes in metallic packaging and obviously boxed. The mascara is thick and creamy and stays on for the full day. It has a nice applicator which almost bends as your put it on your lashes. I have used this every single day of January and it has never failed me. It makes my eyes look really spiky and gives a nice finishing touch to a cat eye effect. It is one of the best mascaras I have ever had and I will be buying again when it runs out! It cost £18 and is really worth the money.

An other item I have been loving, is the Sanctuary Spa Mande Lular Body Soufflè. I got this in a set of three but is my favourite out the lot. This was a gift for Christmas so I am unsure of the price but I will be re-purchasing once it is gone! It smells heavenly and also feels super soft when you put it on. I have been using this after baths and it is perfect for moisturising . IT is a shea butter (probably why it smells so good) and makes your skin look really shiny and nice. This is my only body favourite but is the best thing this month!

My final item is a perfume. Usually my smell is the Next Just Pink perfume, but this month I have really been into New Look's Pure Dusk perfume. New Look recently brought out a range of perfumes with their new make up range. I went through and smelt all the perfumes.. this one was the nicest! It smells quite sweet but is almost like a Spring kind-of scent?! I just love it. If you get chance to smell it, you will probably buy it. It was only £8 and I have wore it so much this month. Lots of people have said 'ooh what perfume are you wearing?" and it has always been this one.

So thats all my favourites for this month. Leave a comment if there are any blog posts you would like me to do. See you xx
